My son fell out of the ride and sadly died but other than that I had a really good time.😁 Sadly because of this little incident, I am going to give it 4 stars instead of 5. (Alton Towers gave me a 20% coupon on merchandise because of the incident.🥰)

So on the 24th of 2024 I took my friend on the smiler while in the queue line my friend was like "nooo I can't do this!" But he pushed himself we got to the front and we were terrified my just kept saying "don't talk" he said it helps. Once we got off he said should we go on again and he loved it.
Thank you alton towers for being my favorite theme park in all of the UK. 😃

What an epic ride, straight from the start, has to be one of the best rollercoasters out there. Can’t wait to go on it again 👌

Pros-
Insane adrenaline rush
Unique ride experience
Fun ride
Cons-
Can be rough, keep your head forwards so that your head doesn't bang against the restraint at some points.
The indoor queue line and theme tune can drive some insane (adds to the theming)
Harsh strobe light indoors
This ride is certainly meant to scare you before you get on, it isn't as bad as you'd think though.
It's completely safe
The best bits are the pre-lift section, first half up to the last dive loop and second airtime hill
Ride 8/10
Theming 9/10 (over the top)
Experience overall 8.5/10

definitely made me and my party walk away with a smile! Love this ride, only recently having the courage to do loops, and now have no fear. Que time is on average on weekends about an hour, but luckily one person in my group was able to get a ride acess pass, getting us on the ride in under 10 minutes :)

One of my favourite rides at Alton towers most rollercoasters is really short the smiler last a good amount of time the only down I have of it is that it can be a little bit of a headbanger, especially on the last turn at the end of the ride apart from that, I love the smile my favourite ride at Alton Towers!

I've absolutely loved this ride since it open when I was a kid! It really does make me smile, so it definitely lives up to its name! It has gotten a little rougher over the years but that's expected of a rollercoaster, I see no other faults than that. It's great when going on solo trips as it has a single rider queue! The staff when I visited last (25/05/24) were very friendly which helped make my day! Overall amazing ride, can't wait to come back and ride it again!

Awesome ride! The queue usually moves fairly quickly.
Height restriction is 1.4m.
I'm a size 20uk and fit comfortably in the seats.

Probably the best roller coaster I've even experienced, coming for a roller coaster geek! I loved all 14 inversions, and I didn't get the slightest bit dizzy! I would've gone again if it didn't close for the firework spectacular, but that show was beautiful too so it's fine :) I'll be back in a few years, and I bet it'll still be as amazing!

Wicked! First time riding this but BE PREPARED TO STAY IN THE QUEUE FOR 2 HOURS. I'd recommend queueing for this ride soon as you get in, (even though you may still be waiting over 1 hour) as it's so popular and has 14 hoops in 4 minutes. Such a good ride for the adrenaline junkies. I know the whole purpose is for the buzz feeling but close your eyes if you don't really like heights, it helps lol. Also, I would rather purchase queue jump tickets because by the time you are waiting 2 plus hours for the rides you only ride on max 5 or 6. I missed out on 3 so next time will be purchasing queue jump.
