Wonderful family dinner for 6, we had seen the carvery available on previous visits and always looked good. Meats were cooked to perfection as were the plentiful selection of vegetables. Will definitely be returning.

Called in early to book a table , owners were very obliging....reserved us a table by the log burner knowing it was going to be a stormy evening.
Returned at 1800 to be welcomed , seated and order swiftly taken.
Pie of the day was excellent, big chunky chips and rich gravy. Good choice of well kept beer. Will definitely visit here again.

Fabulous carvery late Sunday evening! Plenty of vegetables and great beef. Chris was brilliant and made fresh Yorkshire puddings, the whole team were lovely!

Absolutely diabolical service. Ordered (separately) at the same time as friends. They got their food within 20 minutes. After 50 minutes of waiting we checked with the bar staff just to find he stacked the receipts and ours never got to the kitchen. He wouldn’t admit this though. Asked for a refund instead because we had already waited long enough and were instantly refused. an hour is “a normal time to wait for food because it’s cooked fresh.” We were told we can either wait 5 more minutes for the pizza or wait 20 minutes to speak to the boss. Asked to just have it to go. Pizza is clearly cooked from frozen. Honestly tastes exactly like an co-op garlic pizza. Either way doesn’t take an hour to cook. Staff were mocking us as we left. Didn’t end up eating the food and over £30 out of pocket.

My family and I recently had a fantastic meal at The Talbot. Even though it was close to closing time, they were more than happy to seat us and prepare a delicious meal for us. The restaurant itself is charming and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. Werecommend The Talbot to anyone looking for a great meal and a lovely atmosphere.

Guess how much that sandwich cost? It cost a tenner…a tenner!!! 😂 It was nice but a tenner? Come on guys that’s an absolute piss take. Took upwards of 5 minutes to make and was OK. And just in case you were thinking it…that doesn’t include the soup. AND I never got my salad 😢 Still the staff were lovely and spot is great but they need to look at that pricing. Cheers!

Great place food a drink.
Stopped here after a long walk with the dog. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and even had time for a chat, one gentlemen even brought the dog a little treat and advised me to explore Alton castle.
I didn't have any food while I was here, but it looked great.
Hopefully, I will be back soon!

Went for dinner while we was on short break in Alton towers hotel. AMAZING!!! so glad that we went out there! Pub is so cozy, firewood on, lovely smell, warm and charming! Food was amazing and good priced with huge amount. Drinks fare priced too. Great place to have a meal or drinks, and 100 times better than resorts restaurants and only 5min drive

Wow, I have been to Alton Towers hundreds of times and and never spotted this hidden gem. The location is perfect with a river, outdoor seating both in the sun and covered, with views of the castle, river and forests. Then there is indoor seating in a historic pub with retro styled booths, seating and ambience. The staff are happy, chatty and very attentive. The food was well priced, served quickly and very tasty. Great experience overall and definitely my favorite country retreat.
